How to refer a patient to Lucknow Imaging Centre
Refer by WhatsApp or phone. Message +91 70809 82920 or call 0522-3180995, and say that you are a referring doctor. A short message is enough to start, and there is no referral form to fill in on this website.
The patient can also contact the centre alone, with your prescription or referral note. Either way, the team confirms the day, the time and any preparation with the patient.
The centre's services include ultrasound, Colour Doppler, digital X-ray, 2D Echo, ECG, pathology and health packages, breast imaging and image-guided procedures. If you are unsure whether a test is offered, ask the team before you send the patient.
What to include in a referral
A short message with these six items is enough for the team to plan the visit.
- Patient name and age. Add the patient's sex if it matters for the test.
- The test or procedure requested. Name it as you would on a prescription, for example "ultrasound of the abdomen" or "breast ultrasound".
- The clinical question. Say what you want the test to answer. A clear question gives a report that speaks to it.
- Urgency. Say whether the test is routine, needed soon or time-critical, so the team can plan.
- A contact number for the patient, and for you or your clinic if you want updates.
- Previous reports and images. Mention what exists, with names and dates, and attach nothing yet. The team will say how to share them.
Share only what is needed to book the test. The radiologist can ask for more when it is needed.
How the referring doctor receives the report
The team confirms the way reports are shared when you refer. Say in your first message that you would like to receive the report too, and how you would like to receive it. The team will tell you which options the centre can offer.
This page does not state a turnaround time. Ask the team about timing for the test you need, because it depends on the test.
The report is written from the images and the question you send. Treat it as one part of the picture, read with the patient's history and your examination. If a finding needs action, ask the team whether the radiologist can discuss it with you.
Referring a patient for breast imaging or a breast symptom
Dr. Pranjali Joshi is the centre's breast radiologist. She holds an MD in Radiodiagnosis and a PDCC in Breast Imaging. Her work covers mammography, 3D mammography, breast ultrasound and image-guided breast procedures under Advance Breast Care.
For a breast referral, say what the patient has noticed: a lump, pain, nipple discharge, a skin change or swelling under the arm. Mention the family history and any earlier breast imaging, biopsy or surgery you know of.
Suitability and scheduling for a breast procedure are confirmed for each patient, after the radiologist has looked at the reports and images.
Referring a patient for an image-guided procedure
The radiologist looks at the patient's reports and images before a procedure is booked. This is how the team decides whether the procedure suits the patient and when it can be done. Expect a short review before a date is fixed.
Send the clinical summary and the key reports in the way the team asks. Ask the team whether the procedure you have in mind is done at this centre. The image-guided procedures overview lists what the centre describes, such as biopsy and FNAC.
What the centre does not do
The centre does not do MRI or CT. If your patient needs one of them, they may need another centre. Ask the team whether the radiologists can review the images the patient brings from there.
The centre does not plan treatment. You, as the treating doctor, decide what comes next with your patient.
Do not use WhatsApp or the phone for an emergency. A patient with severe symptoms should go to a hospital emergency department.
Protecting patient information
Do not send patient records in the first message. Give only what is needed to book: name, age, test, question, urgency and a contact number. The team will say how to share records, images and earlier reports when they are needed.
Share a patient's details only with the patient's knowledge. The patient privacy policy explains how the centre handles patient information.
How a referral works
-
1
Check the test
Look at the centre's service pages, or ask the team, to confirm the test or procedure is offered. For anything unclear, ask first.
-
2
Send a short message
Message the centre on WhatsApp or phone. Give the patient's name and age, the test, your clinical question, the urgency and a contact number.
-
3
Share records as asked
The team will say how to share previous reports and images, and how the report will be shared with you.
-
4
The patient is booked
The team confirms the day, the time and the preparation with the patient. For a procedure, this follows the radiologist's review.
-
5
Receive the report
The team will tell you how and when the report reaches you. As the treating doctor, you decide the next step with your patient.
Send urgent patients to a hospital
A referral message is for planned tests. Do not wait for a booking if the patient has:
- Severe chest pain, sudden breathlessness or fainting.
- Sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, or trouble speaking.
- Heavy bleeding that will not stop.
- Sudden severe pain in the abdomen.
